Our Trip to the Geffrye Museum
We went by mini bus to the Geffrye Museum in east London. We went there to learn about what people's homes were like in the past.

We went for a walk around some herb gardens and gardens from the past. Here we are waiting to go inside the museum.
We went to a special classroom inside the museum where there was a table covered with things that were over 100 years old! We were lucky enough to pick up the objects and try to find out what they were used for in the past.
We found out that this is a washboard for scrubbing clothes until they are clean.
It was hard work!
This is a washing dolly. You have put your clothes in a bucket and swish them around like a modern washing machine. It made our arms ache!
Here is an old iron. You have to heat it on the fire to make it hot.
Here we are using a crpet beater to bash all the dust out of the rug. People in the past had no electicity so they had to do all the work themselves.
