Our Trip to The Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green
As part of our History work, we are learning about toys from the past and comparing them with modern toys. We went on a trip to have the chance to see and hold some really old toys and to find out more...

We looked at some old clockwork toys.

Then we had a chance to hold a porcelain doll that was over 100 years old. She was very fragile.

We had a go at playing a snakes and ladders game like the ones that we made in class last week.
We saw some very fancy old dolls houses. Some of them were huge! Then we had a play in a more modern one.

We saw all sorts of puppets. These are string puppets.

We played with some hand puppets in a 'Punch and Judy' style puppet show.

We had a look at some old fashioned wooden toys like yo yos and cup and ball. We noticed that lots of old toys were made out of wood because plastic hadn't been invented yet.

We all got to have a turn on the rocking horse. It was great fun!

Before it was time to get back on the bus, we had a look at some seaside toys and played in the sand.
